Ace Aceto 
Ace Aceto has been a comedian, actor, show producer, and podcaster. But he counts being a father of three as his greatest accomplishment. When his youngest daughter Maddie lost one of her front teeth, she seemed more inquisitive about the tooth fairy than after losing previous teeth. When she couldn’t get the answers from anyone else, she decided to find out for herself. So, she disappeared to her bedroom and an hour later came back with 18 note cards with questions for the tooth fairy to answer, and the concept of his first book was born.

David J. Aiello
David Aiello has taught English and worked as an investigative and entertainment reporter. He is the author of Twilight’s Last Gleaming, a 2017 candidate for the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction, and the acclaimed novel, Man on a String. He lives with his family in Rhode Island.

Andreas Algava
Andreas Algava was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1939, the only son of Henri Algava and Allegra Carasso-Algava. When Andreas was 16 months old, Hitler’s forces invaded the country of his birth. Having to decide whether to believe the Nazi propaganda about a safe haven for Jews in Poland or go into hiding and risk execution, Andreas’s parents chose the latter relying on the courage and character of their Christian friends.
After the war, the Algava family moved to New York City and became U.S. citizens. Andreas became known as Andrew who later attended Cornell University where he earned an engineering degree. This was followed by military service in the U. S. Army including a tour of duty in France. After military service, Andrew worked with his father in the family export business in the United States and Argentina.
He joined IBM and worked on assignment in Germany where he lived with his wife, Priscilla and where his two daughters, Alisa and Carin were born. Andreas now lives in Rhode Island to be close to his daughters, son-in-law Michael and grandchildren Drew and Sabria.
Algava wrote 600 Days in Hiding: A Jewish Family in Nazi-Occupied Thessaloniki Greece to tell the story of his family’s survival during the Greek Holocaust. Andreas regards his book as his declaration for people to live in peace and harmony and a warning to not repeat the horrors of the past.
“Writing my family’s story energizes me; it’s a fulfillment of a dream.” He plans to write a sequel to 600 Days in Hiding to address “How as individuals and society we are making very bad choices and need to take appropriate actions.”
The author is available for media interviews and speaking engagements in hopes of inspiring others to take action to create a more just world.
The author is committed to his personal mission: "To empower myself and others to manifest generosity, kindness, forgiveness and compassion for myself and for others to relieve the suffering in the world."

Chad Anctil
Chad Anctil grew up in the fascinating little state of Rhode Island, birthplace of H.P. Lovecraft and his peculiar branch of fiction, where he found his love for reading and horror at a young age - probably too young, but that’s just how Generation X did it. He has always been creative, taking up both writing and DJing in his teenage years before joining the Navy as an electronics engineer on fast attack submarines through the 90s. Since then Chad has had his short stories published in anthologies such as 'Femme Fatale Flashes',
‘Halloweenthology: Trick or Treat’, ‘Apocalyptales: The End is Nigh’, and ‘Flash of the Dead: Requiem’ among others. His debut novel 'The Midnight Tree' is a middle school supernatural mystery, and his urban fantasy crime series ‘Providence SCU: Supernatural Crimes Unit’ debuts in 2024. He posts short stories and thoughts on writing on his website.

Doug Anderson was born and raised in Rhode Island, first growing up in Warwick, and then moving to Cumberland where he happily lives with his wife and (slightly psychotic) dog. He graduated in 2018 from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in English Literature.
Since a young age, Doug has always loved to write stories. With no prior publishing credits, he plans to release his debut novel, Among the Founders this Fall.

Victoria Atamian Waterman
Victoria Atamian Waterman is an Armenian American storyteller and speaker who draws inspiration from the quirky multigenerational, multilingual home in which she was raised with her grandparents, survivors of the Armenian Genocide. Her empowerment of today’s women and girls makes her voice ideal for telling the little-known stories of yesterday’s women leaders. Evelyn Audet is a United States Coast Guard Captain and runs her own lighting design business in Rhode Island. Evelyn is an artist and a naturalist. She has been an observer of our natural world since she was a toddler. Tim Baird is a fantasy & science fiction author based out of Central Massachusetts. He has penned the fantasy series, the ‘Dragon in the Whites’, the SF novella ‘Eggs in Two Baskets’, as well as the recently released children’s bedtime story, ‘Good Night Phobos, Good Night Deimos’. He enjoys hiking and camping in the wonderful outdoors of New England and likes to include the beautiful locations in his writing. Many of the pivotal scenes found within the ‘Dragon in the Whites’ series and ‘Eggs in Two Baskets’ are important locations from his past experiences.
When he’s not writing, Tim spends his days exploring the world of mechanical engineering through product development and industrial automation systems. Volunteering with children in several youth robotics programs, he is trying his hardest to avoid growing up, one robot at a time. He enjoys time at home with his wife & son, watching/reading anything Star Wars related, and spending time out in the woods of New England, looking for that next great scene in a story.

Lindsay Bartholomew is something between a scientist, adventurer, educator, and storyteller. James Y. Bartlett
One of the most prolific travel and lifestyle writers of his generation, James Y. Bartlett spent his career as both an editor (Golfweek, Caribbean Travel & Life, Luxury Golf) and freelance writer (Forbes FYI, Hemispheres, Esquire, Departures, Bon Appetit and dozens more).
His first Hacker golf mystery was published in 1991 and now encompasses seven popular inside-the-ropes mysteries. He has written three other novels and a half dozen non-fiction books as well.

Michael A. Battey, D.P.M was born and raised in Rhode Island.
He received degrees from the University of Rhode Island, and the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.
He maintains a private practice in foot and ankle care with a specialty in Hospital Based Residency Training, and is a Faculty Member at the Brown University Alpert Medical School.
He was the author of The Parent Trap Column, published from 2005-2012 in the East Greenwich Pendulum and sister newspapers in the Southern Rhode Island newspaper group.
His interests include local education, squash racquets, and time at the beach with family and friends.

Robert was born and raised in Rhode Island on a steady diet of Monty Python, Tom Baker’s Doctor Who, 80’s cartoons, Babylon 5, Star Trek, Star Wars, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Firefly, comics books and movies.
In early 2000’s, Robert, Paul and Brendan O’Neill co-wrote an web comic called “The Legend of Lilly Deacon”.
After several years of writing during NaNoWrimo, Robert decided to create a writing group called the Rhody Writing Group. The group meets once a month at the Warwick Public Library where local writers get together and critique each others work.
Robert has published his first book, “Where Weavers Daire”, book one in an ongoing sci-fi space opera series is now available in ebook or paperback.

Amanda Quay Blount makes her publishing debut with Meet Me At The Biltmore, a chronological history of the storied Biltmore Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. Amanda hails from New Jersey but came to Rhode Island in 2018 and was instantly enthralled by the historic allure of the city. Amanda holds a degree in History from Rutgers University and a masters in Social Work and Community Development from Washington University in St. Louis. Meet Me At The Biltmore was researched over the course of two years and with the help of dozens of people who are interested in the historic and social relevance of the hotel. Amanda compiled thousands of primary source articles and interviews to write this book, including archives from the hotel itself. It is the only comprehensive history of the Providence Biltmore ever written, and she hopes you enjoy the story as much as she enjoyed writing it.

Lisa Braxton is an Emmy-nominated former television journalist, an essayist, short story writer, and novelist. She is a fellow of the Kimbilio Fiction Writers Program and was a finalist in the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition. She is the former president of the Boston Chapter of the Women’s National Book Association. Rev. Dr. Candace Breen
Candace Nadine Breen is of West African (Benin, Cameroon ) descent and wears many hats. She taught English in Providence, Rhode Island for eleven years for grades seven and nine. During that time, she tried to find her place in society while being driven away from various religious organizations for her inability to conform to their standards. While raising a family, she returned to school and earned a Master’s in Human Services with a focus on Marriage and Family Counseling. She was later a real estate agent for a few years but found it unfulfilling , stressful and time consuming. After taking time to open up herself to her true path, she buried herself in metaphysical studies, earning a Master’s of Science and Doctorate in Metaphysics. She became a Spiritualist Minister which seemed like the perfect occupation for her, at first, but she gradually felt that she was outgrowing the Spiritualist community and was told by a medium unknown to her that her path would not end with the Spiritualist Church.
It was very difficult for Candace to fit into societal boxes and , after, falling into depression, she threw caution to the wind and decided to follow her true calling. She embraced her psychic talents, wrote and published three successful memoirs, threw herself into her art and began working on children’s books, young adult fiction books and sci-fi novels.
Although Candace is a Master Gardener, she has always loved gardening and just being outside in nature. She has found satisfaction in earth-based religions and solitary spiritual practices despite the fact that she refuses to be labeled as any particular religion. She enjoys being in her garden, meditating in her wooded and quiet backyard, painting, art, and spending time with her family. She studies magick, gives Spirit messages via intuitive tarot reading, runes and her mediumship abilities. Candace also devotes herself to speaking, helping and healing for the highest and greatest good.
Candace resides in Barrington, Rhode Island with her loving family consisting of her devoted husband, two very talented and creative children and their loving and mystical cat.

Noel-Anne Brennan
Noel-Anne Brennan has been a poet and a journalist as well as a novelist. She has spent most of her time reading fantasy and science fiction and she has been writing it since 1986 when "Winter Reckoning" was published. She was a finalist for the Romantic Times Award for "The Sword of the Land" in 2003. She also still writes poetry and occasionally non-fiction. She teaches Anthropology and Gender Studies at the University of Rhode Island, and lives with her family in southern Rhode Island. Occasionally, in her spare time, she sleeps.

Joe Broadmeadow
Joe Broadmeadow retired with the rank of Captain from the East Providence, Rhode Island Police Department after twenty years. Assigned to various divisions within the department including Commander of Investigative Services, he also worked in the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force and on special assignment to the FBI Drug Task Force. He is the author of three novels based o his experiences as a police officers, three non-fiction works about Organized Crime, and of a YA series, Saving the Last Dragon. In 2019 he opened JEBWizard Publishing, an independent hybrid publishing company.

I pursued my life long interest in the Arts later in life. After retiring from my Administrative position I returned to college and joined Art Association in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Returning to my old homeland often, attending lectures on art and art history. I opened my pottery studio and taught workshops working with clay and porcelain. I started painting with watercolor, oil, sketching with pencil and charcoal and won many awards for my my work in clay and porcelain, sculptures, paintings as well as my etchings.
After the birth of my grandchildren I started to write and illustrate children's picture books in several languages.
The ABC book, words in alphabetical order in the English and German language illustrated with colorful pictures.
The WALDY books are bedtime story books about overcoming the fear of darkness as well as teaching basic arithmetic skills. The book is available in the English, German and French language.
These books were originally published in Germany, and later uploaded as e-books.
The FLOWERCHILDREN a fictional story book is an introduction to the color theory, creating secondary colors from primary colors, red, blue and yellow. It helps children 4 to 8 years understand what happens, when we blend primary colors, and see what happens. It is also a book about kindness and friendship. This book won three Honorable Mentions in International competitions The FLOWERCHILDREN books are listed at the TABLE OF HONOR websites.

Ana Arelys’ love for the city of Providence has inspired many of her poems, including Providence, The Bay, Roger William and Providence you are peace. In 2013, she was recognized for her literature work and was invited to be the Keynote Speaker at the 2013 Dominican Independence and Heritage Award of Rhode Island and later became president of this organization.

Paul Caranci
Paul F. Caranci is a public speaker and the author of 13 books. He is a third-generation resident of North Providence, RI and has been a student of history for many years. He served as RI Deputy Secretary of State for eight years and was elected to the town council where he served for almost seventeen years. He has a BA in political science from Providence College and is working toward an MPA from Roger Williams University.
Together with his wife Margie he founded The Municipal Heritage Group in 2009. He is an incorporating member of the Association of Rhode Island Authors (ARIA) and a member of the board of the RI Publication Society. Paul also served on the board of the Heritage Harbor Museum, and the RI Heritage Hall of Fame. He is past chairman of the Diabetes Foundation of RI where he served on the board for over fifteen years.
During his tenure on the town council, Paul's efforts to successfully pass laws and implement health policies earned him several public health awards including the James Carney Public Health Award from the RI Dept. of Health, an advocacy award from the American Cancer Society, the advocate of the year award from the Diabetes Foundation of RI and an advocacy award from the American Diabetes Association.
In 2015, Paul was awarded the Margaret Chase Smith American Democracy Award for Political Courage, the highest honor awarded by the National Association of Secretaries of State, for his undercover role in exposing political corruption in his hometown of North Providence. His undercover work with the FBI, in breaking up what a federal judge called a criminal empire, is the subject of Paul's seventh book, Wired: A Shocking True Story of Political Corruption and the FBI Informant Who Risked Everything to Expose It.
Paul’s latest book, scheduled for release by Stillwater River Publications in early November 2021, chronicles daily life for World War II prisoners held at the Dachau, Germany’s oldest and most brutal concentration camp. The Nazi regime programmed every activity to inflict the most physical and psychological pain possible. The sadistic nature of the camp commanders is portrayed through the eyes of Fr. Pamela holds a B.A. from Colby College and an M.A. from Columbia University Teachers College. A former information director for the Delaware Dept. of Education, she taught high school English in Connecticut, Georgia, and Maine. Later, she earned an advanced degree from R.I. School of Design and opened Interiors by Pamela in Cumberland, R.I. There, she taught adult education and served in many civic capacities. A. Keith Carreiro earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from Harvard Graduate School of Education, with the sequential help and guidance of three advisors, Dr. Vernon A. Howard, Dr. Donald W. Oliver and Professor Emeritus, Dr. Israel Scheffler. Keith’s academic focus, including his ongoing research agenda, centers upon philosophically examining how creativity and critical thinking are acquired, learned, utilized and practiced in the literary, visual and performing arts. Charlene J. Centracchio is a native of Rhode Island with multiple degrees from Rhode Island College and Providence College in Social Science/Education (BA), Secondary Education/Gifted Education (M.Ed.), Counseling (M.A.) and Curriculum & Instruction (CAGS). She worked in the public school system from 1980 until her retirement (2010), serving the district as a high school social studies teacher and guidance counselor. During her tenure in education she served on many committees for the school itself and the district, including the School Improvement Team, curriculum writing and NEASC Standards Chairperson. She served as a mentor for many students in the district through various activities such as Class Advisor, Drama Director, Cheerleading/Majorette coach and the Booster Club Advisor. She was on a team of people who won the Presidential Award For Drug Free Schools and Communities resulting in the Key to her home town. As a guidance counselor she was nominated for and won the New England Association of College Admissions Counseling: Margaret Addis Memorial Scholar (2010) for the State of Rhode Island. Writing has been an important part of Charlene's life starting at an early age when she started writing short stories, poems, and multitudes of educational documents. She currently works part time as a paralegal.
Charlene is also an intuitive psychic card reader utilizing a regular deck of playing cards as a tool to connect with the vibration of energy from the person’s name. She has been reading cards for 35 years and has many clients that she helps achieve their highest goals for betterment of their lives. She is trained in Reiki Healing, as well as Magnified Healing. Rhonda Chadwick worked most of her life in the accounting field until 2007 when she went back to school to become an archivist. She has worked at numerous libraries, archives, and museums throughout southern New England. She now owns a personal history business named after her grandmother and great-grandmother called, LenaSalina Legacy Preservation. The mission of LenaSalina is to teach people about long-term preservation and archival storage, and to assist people in creating a family or personal archive. She gives library lectures throughout New England teaching patrons how to store material items, how to create a digital legacy, how to organize materials for better retrieval, and how to find creative ways of telling family and personal stories. She has put this information into a book called, Secrets from the Stacks which will be released in summer 2022.
Rhonda has an English degree in creative writing from Rhode Island College. She has written numerous short stories and has a historical fiction based-on-fact novel started to tell of the experience of her great-grandmother, Salina, who did laundry for Smith College students to support herself and her first four children at the turn of the twentieth century when her husband left for two years. Once the non-fiction book is released, she intends to have more time doing creative writing. She also knits, does needlework, photography and volunteers at a historic home doing historical reenactments.

A Maine native, I currently live in Wakefield, Mass. I worked in land use planning right out of college, then after a stint as an industrial pipefitter, I took up drafting in several engineering disciplines. These vocations, coupled with avocational hobbies and interests, augment my literary ventures. I’ve played with the written word since I could hold a pencil. Playwright and novelist David W. Christner was born in Sweetwater, TN and raised in a small farming community in southwestern Oklahoma. After a stint with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and shore duty in Norfolk, VA, he settled permanently in southern Rhode Island, just across the bay from Newport where he had attended Officer Candidate School.

Leonardo Franchini’s translation of Red Hot Mamas has been touring Northern Italy for two years and his translation of the novel Huckleberry Hill was published May 2018 in Italy. The U.K. premiere of This Blood’s for You took place at Cambridge University in October 2018.

Connie Ross Ciampanelli is a writer from North Providence, Rhode Island. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts, majoring in English, from Rhode Island College. Married to Anthony Ciampanelli and the mother of two grown sons, Connie worked for fourteen years as a secretary at La Salle Academy in Providence and is now retired.
In addition to writing, Connie is a voracious reader. She enjoys cooking and baking. For nearly forty years she has been an enthusiastic needle-worker, specializing in sampler reproduction. She has an abiding passion for animals. At this time Connie & Tony have two cats of their own. They and all the Ciampanellis’ cats that have crossed the rainbow bridge were rescues.
Connie's first book, "Journey to 10K: Adventures of an Older Novice Runner", is an account of her beginning to run at age 59, working her way to a half marathon to celebrate her 63rd birthday.
Connie’s second book is about a feral cat which the Ciampanellis took care of for nearly twelve years. Unofficially adopted by Connie and Tony, they named him Bartholomew Thomas Katt, a.k.a. Bart. His story is "Bart the Mysterious: a True Story."

A lifelong resident of New England, Jessica has lived in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Rhode Island (in no particular order!). Currently, she calls Rhode Island home. Jessica held quite a few (unfulfilling) office positions before the birth of her son, Joshua. Author Bernadette Conte has lived a colorful life thus far — one that is rife with love, joy, fear, faith, and unwavering hope.
Her writings are deeply influenced by her rich Italian background as well as her passion for biographies, autobiographies, and spiritual books about those who endured hardships and triumphed through their perseverance and faith.
Born as the third child to a family of six children, this Rhode Island native owes her writing career to her mother who, like her, had a penchant for storytelling. Growing up, Bernadette took to heart her mother’s urging to scrivi e recorda — write and remember.
Her maternal grandparents, parents’ and many other Italian immigrants’ faith, courage, and hard work in the face of adversity left a lifelong impression on her, which gave her the impetus to one day tell their story and fulfill the promise she made to her mother.
Her first book, Eviva Maria, Madonna della Civita, is an interesting non-fiction about her church’s history, borne from a collection of documents and discoveries. Her second book, Under the Pear Tree, is a moving account of the trials, traumas, and emotional life surrounding the 19th-century Italian immigrant experience. Her third book, Trauma at the Border, is a gripping true story about her husband’s battle with cancer and their disturbing ordeal at the US–Mexico border, involving ICE and a certain drug cartel.
She is the founder of Mary’s Way, Women to Woman, a Christian spiritual group dealing with the spiritual, psychological, and physical needs of women. In earlier years, she initiated group inner healing services throughout the East Coast and has continued this ministry when called upon to groups and those in crisis.
When she is not writing, Bernadette spends her days doting on her two children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandson, as well as fondly remembering her husband, Ralph C. Conte, who passed in 2000, and her involvement with friends, church, and community activities. She is a member of the Rhode Island Author’s Association and is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.

Alfred R. Crudale is a native Rhode Islander who grew up in the Knightsville section of Cranston. He has been an educator in Rhode Island for over thirty years and earned his Ph.D. in Italian literature from the University of Connecticut. He is a lecturer at the University of Rhode Island. He and his wife Barbara, the parents of four boys, live on their small farm in West Kingston, Rhode Island.

Jim Dyer is an editor, publisher and owner of Fenham Publishing.
The press was established in 2000 and formed to showcase the works of Providence, Rhode Island native C. M. Eddy, Jr. (Jim's grandfather) an author of short stories from the pulp magazine era of the 1920’s, most notably Weird Tales.
Mr. Eddy was a confidant and friend to both H. P. Lovecraft and Houdini during that period.
C. M. Eddy, Jr. was also a ghostwriter and investigator for Houdini.

Suffer the Children, From fanaticism to Mental Illness is Louella Eastwood’s first book. Louella grew up in a small town in California’s central valley. Though she tried hard to accept the fundamental Christian faith of her father and mother, she was unable to explain the many contradictions she experienced. Her folks told her about the God of Love. Yet, they filled her with images of hell, stories of damnation, and nightmares of demons that started as a tiny child.
Ms. Eastwood has a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. She worked as a counselor in Sacramento and San Jose, California, working primarily with domestic violence offenders, many of whom learned their belief systems in fundamental churches. Louella found the work rewarding, but she was disturbed by the number of abusers who believed they had the right to control their wives or significant others because the Bible said so.

Cynthia Di Filippo Elomaa grew up in the village of Ardsley, NY. A quiet place where the schools are small, academics are hard and sports are big. Struggling with the academic part, in gym class Cynthia realized she loved to swim. Yes, Ardsley Middle School has its own pool, and as part of the physical education curriculum, there was a swim class every year. One of the only students who could master the butterfly stroke Cynthia joined the swim team and later on joined the high school volleyball team.
It was her middle school English teacher who told her she could be a writer. With renewed passion that she was actually good at something she enjoyed, she realized her dream to become an author. The road to college was hard, but she got there. In college, she studied English Literature with plans on working for a publishing company as an editor. Life as they say happens though. She met her husband in college, got married, and eventually moved to Rhode Island and started a family.
Never forgetting her dream, Cynthia wrote whenever she could. It wasn’t until after getting married and raising her two boys as a stay-at-home mom, that the Nicky picture book series was born.
Cynthia is an Executive Assistant by day, a freelancer and an author of picture books and young adult novels by night, a member of SCBWI, and runs a critique group for other writers.

M.A. Guglielmo is a neurosurgeon, mother of two awesome daughters, and a life-long fan of speculative fiction. Her Italian grandmother may or may not have been able to cast the evil eye on difficult neighbors, and she loves telling a good story, especially if magical curses and witty villains are involved.
Her interest in Middle Eastern politics and culture inspires her to incorporate mythology and folklore from the region into her writing projects. After having the wits scared out of her by ghost tales told to her over a campfire in the Moroccan Sahara, she’s come up with a plan to travel to all the potential settings for her novels. Since those include the mountain-ringed home of the Jinn and a modernized version of the Greek Underworld, some items on her bucket list might be harder to achieve than others.
She enjoys interacting with other authors in classes such as Odyssey’s on-line writing workshop and in her local writer’s group, as well as attending conventions like Boston’s Muse and the Marketplace and Rhode Island’s own Ocean State Summer Writing Conference.
She’s co-authored several papers in clinical journals and a chapter in a medical textbook. Her current fiction projects are described on the Books page, and she posts about the research for her writing on the Blog page.
Maria was born and raised in Rhode Island, and graduated from Yale University with a degree in biology. She completed her M.D. degree at Brown University Medical School, and went on to complete the Brown University Neurosurgical Residency program. After several years enjoying the company of sunny friends and overcast skies in Portland, Oregon, she moved back to Rhode Island, where she’s a neurosurgeon in academic practice. She lives there with her two daughters, assorted pets, and is always dreaming of the stories that can come out of her next travel destination.

Don N. Hagist is managing editor of Journal of the American Revolution. His focus on demographics and material culture of the British Army in the American Revolution grew from the discovery that there was paucity of literature on the common British soldier, and that much of the conventional wisdom on the subject was inconsistent with available first-hand information. This led to a continuing quest to find and assimilate primary sources in Great Britain and America to better understand the thousands of professional British soldiers who served during the 1775-1783 war.
Don’s specific areas of expertise include British operations in Rhode Island, demographics of the British army, and wives of British soldiers. He maintains a blog about British common soldiers and has published a number of articles in academic journals.

Janet Hudon Hartman lives in a 1700’s house in the National Historic District of Pawtuxet Village. She is the author of several books about the history of the village as well as short stories about growing up in the 50’s at the edge of Narragansett Bay.
She frequently writes for the local Pawtuxet Village Newspaper, The Bridge, telling stories about businesses and families of the past. Colorful and interesting characters have always been part of the village life and storytelling.

Lori Michelle Hawks has loved writing ever since she began drawing in Crayon on the walls above her crib. Her childhood was spent enjoying classic texts such as Word Bird and Sweet Valley Twins. Dr. Robert Hirsch is a viral immunologist. He was born in Boston, and grew up in Framingham, MA. Katherine Itacy
Katherine Itacy was born deformed and, by the age of four, had developed both a dangerous spinal disorder and an incurable disease. Yet, thirteen years later, she’d amassed five state and eight national high school championship titles in track and field.

I was born in Brooklyn, NY, but mostly rasied in Providence, RI. I'm one of two siblings to my wonderful mom. I have a younger brother who is a Construction Project Manager. His creatively came with the use of his brain and hands while mine came with using my imagination. I always liked imaging things and would often day dream of my favorite senerios or things I enjoyed and wanted to recreate them and have fun. I'm big into movies, tv shows, video games, anime, and reading manga. Being immersed in those things really increased my love of story telling. I really fell in love with actually putting words on paper in high school and more in college when I took lots of script writing and short story classes. They opened my mind to different styles of writing and bringing stories to life. I have lots of stories in my head that I want to share with everyone. Maria Kamoulakou is a Greek archaeologist and an award-winning children’s author.
Ever since her childhood in Athens, Maria has loved escaping to the imaginary world of books. A longing to visualize and re-live the past led her to an eighteen-year career in archaeology. In 2013, a similar urge prompted Maria to test her writing skills and publishing abilities.
In 2018 she created Little Centaur Press. Her books bridge the gap between picture books and juvenile chapter books. Matthew J. Keefe
Matthew J. Keefe is an author, spoken word recording artist, and photographer who was born and raised in Rhode Island. He was a wild and imaginative child and would always find an output for his imagination in the forms of drawing and creating.
At age 15, he was inspired by the novel ‘On the Road’ by Jack Kerouac, given to him by his father. He instantly felt a connection to the book and decided from then that his goal was to become a published author. He accomplished that goal in 2016 when he published his first book of poems ‘Awake in Dreams’ and in 2018 he followed it up with a sequel titled ‘Awake in Dreams: Reprise’. Also, in 2018 the poet delved into the spoken word scene releasing his first spoken word poem ‘Heart’s Mind’. In 2020 he released his third book ‘therapeutic.’ and his debut spoken word poetry EP ‘Therapeutic: The Tape’.
Recently the artist has been getting more involved in the visual arts in the forms of photography and creating visualizer videos for his spoken word pieces.
The only thing Matthew J. Keefe hopes for with his art is that it can “enlighten the world and make it a better place.”

As a former college radio station DJ, BJ was inspired to write this book after asking herself “Whatever happened to all those 80’s rock stars and one-hit wonders?” Her writing career has contributions to RI Fit Magazine. But her prouder achievements are her original angry chick rock songs, usually about bad boyfriends, accompanied by her out of tune guitar.
BJ resides in Rhode Island with her husband, Todd, and dogs Nemo and Potter. She is an avid sailor and scuba diver, and also enjoys pretty much any outdoor activity such as hiking and geocaching as well. She has also single-handedly orchestrated hundreds of failed attempts at cooking.

John Kostrzewa
John Kostrzewa worked for 42 years in the newspaper industry, including the last 29 at The Providence Journal as a business reporter, columnist, business editor and assistant managing editor.
He retired from the Journal in 2017 and spent the next three years as an adjunct professor at Bryant University, where he taught a Writing Workshop course to first year students.
In 2020 during the pandemic, he began writing freelance stories for the Journal about business and economics. In January 2021, he launched “Walking Rhode Island,” a column online and in the Sunday Providence Journal about hiking in the state. Since then, he has written more than 100 columns.
Kostrzewa plans to compile some of the hikes into a book, Walking Rhode Island - 40 hikes for nature and history lovers, with pictures, GPS coordinates and trail maps, that is scheduled for publication by Stillwater River Publications in September 2023.
A College of the Holy Cross graduate, Kostrzewa also worked at the Worcester (Mass.) Post, Lawrence (Mass.) Eagle-Tribune and Akron (Ohio) Beacon Journal.
He and his wife, Carol, live in Cranston.

In addition to writing children's books, Steven Krasner is an Adjunct Writing Professor at Bryant University and he conducts interactive, collaborative classroom writing workshops and Professional Development sessions as "Nudging the Imagination." Steve also is a retired Providence Journal sports writer who covered the Boston Red Sox for 22 years and he is Executive Director of a nonprofit organization (Rhode Island Write on Sports) that runs summer sports writing camps for under-served middle school students.

Marc Kuchner
Marc Kuchner is an astrophysicist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and a country songwriter. He is the co-inventor of the band-limited coronagraph, a tool for finding planets around other stars that will be part of the James Webb Space Telescope. He is also known for his work on planets with exotic chemistries: ocean planets, helium planets, and carbon planets.
Kuchner took a year off from graduate school to intern in a Los Angeles recording studio that turned out to be a hotbed of country music. Since then, Kuchner has devoted much of his spare time to writing county songs in Nashville, TN. During these adventures in the music business, he developed an interest in marketing and realized that he could apply what he was learning in Nashville to help scientists. He enlisted the help of a few hundred of his colleagues on a Facebook group to try to piece together a new picture of how good marketing and good science can go hand in hand. The result is Marketing for Scientists: How to Shine in Tough Times, published by Island Press in November 2011.
Kuchner received his bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard and his Ph.D. in astronomy from Caltech. He was awarded the 2009 SPIE early career achievement award for his work on coronagraphy. He has contributed to more than 100 research papers and published articles in journals including the Astrophysical Journal, Nature, and Astrobiology. He appears as an expert commentator in the Emmy nominated National Geographic television show "Alien Earths" and frequently writes articles in Astronomy Magazine.

Growing up in Connecticut, Thomas was deeply influenced by poet/singer-songwriters Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Like them, he was drawn to landscapes where street, spirit and progressive values intersect: civil rights, relationships, the search for higher ground (as well as the wild and wacky things that happen along the way!).
From the moment he got his first guitar, he has been collecting experiences, documenting the journey: jumping freight trains in Oregon to living in a commune in the Mohave Desert; selling jewelry on the streets of NYC to performing in clubs in NYC, Chicago and LA. This also included a world tour as road manager for an iconic band, housed on a Baron’s estate in Scotland. During this period, with so many in the artist community upset about corporate domination of the Arts, Thomas penned and self-published the book The Artists’ Manifesto. He is currently at work on an updated version; the vital role the Arts play in this challenging time of political unrest and Climate Change.

Since the passing of her son Nathan in 2017, Susan Lataille has been guided to help others through the grieving process. Doug is a physician scientist and resides in Seekonk, Massachusetts with his wife; they met in 1979 as coworkers at Rhode Island Hospital. His professional writing experience includes technical publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters dating back to 1976. She watched a few episodes of the Dr. Phil show of men and women being "Catfished", she learned learned the signs to watch out for and even caught a few herself before anything could happen. Today, she is pursuing her dream of being a published writer and screenwriter.

I had never thought of myself as a writer; therefore, never thought about writing for publication.
Writing doesn’t come easy for me—reading hasn’t always—but I’m a passionate person who throws my entire self into whatever I do if I believe strongly enough in it. So when the characters from Touch restlessly invaded my head one day with the sole purpose of having their story told, I decided right away that failure was not an option. I first put pen to paper in November of 2005 with no writing experience whatsoever. After what felt like a lifetime of learning the craft, countless ups and downs—to include over seven hundredrejections from literary agents—true blood, sweat, tons of tears, and constantly telling myself that hard work, patience, and persistence usually result in success, I finally published Touchindependently in April of 2021.
After such a long and tumultuous journey with these characters, I can wholeheartedly say that I don’t know who I would be without them.
My goal now, while I wait to see if they have more to say, is to create an online space for reader-inspired art: drawings, paintings, photography, journal entries, poems, etcetera (from real-life experiences, Megan-inspired, or imagined), submitted with credit or anonymously, to help show those who may have similar circumstances that they are not alone.

As a reader, I have always bonded with novels and short stories to learn more about myself and about other human beings. Through these novels and stories, I have met human beings whose lives change because of what they have done or what they have not done. As a writer, I have offered my readers a view of that world and of the human beings who, like themselves, accept its challenges and rewards and endure despite its betrayals. Through the novels and stories that I create, I am not only a writer. I am also a teacher.
I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, with degrees that include a Ph.D. in English Literature. For many years, I taught literature, grammar, and composition in Cranston High School East and in Park View Middle School in Rhode Island. I have happy memories of that cycle in my life. I continue to teach through my novels and my short stories. Young and older readers have enjoyed meeting the characters in my books and connecting to their compelling lives.
I have written six novels, a collection of stories, and a novella.
I write literary fiction. Two of my novels (THE WOMAN WHO LOVED TOO WELL and THE GHOST LOVERS) find their tension and their surprise in World War Two romantic triangles. SCHEMES, DISGUISES, & TRAPS is anchored to suspenseful noir fiction. THE WEAVER OF PLOTS centers upon a woman’s revenge against the man who betrayed her. VANISHING BY DEGREES is a teen/adult crossover novel that melds the supernatural and the realistic. In my novella THE SUBTLETIES OF SEDUCTION, a boat race on Newport, Rhode Island waters during the summer of 1920 initiates a scenario of scandal, malice, and duplicity. BITTERNESS/SEVEN STORIES explores the lives of characters that are tested as well as transformed or defeated by the loss of a spouse or children and other relatives during a world war. Some of the characters are tested by the aftermath of a fatal air crash, by terminal illness, and by unrequited love.
As a teacher and a writer, I am especially pleased that the Study Guide Edition of VANISHING BY DEGREES is scheduled to become a part of the tenth-grade language arts curriculum in well-rated Rhode Island schools.
Recently, I have completed my sixth novel (and eighth book), THE REAPPEARING. It is a novel about transformation and about reappearing to oneself as somebody renewed, restored, and different. The novel will be published in 2023.

I have always been obsessive about historical detail in my work. If I put a character in a particular historical situation, I have to know what “actually happened” before I can write about it. This is certainly true in my historical and mystery books, but even in my fantasy novels, I felt I had to be consistent with historical norms even in constructing a mythical ancient society.
Such research not only helps me avoid stupid blunders (please, please!) but often unearths things that enrich the scene. Sometimes these things even change the course of the narrative, usually for the better.
However, most of the time, I unearth more than I can use for my story. But as many of these things are interesting in themselves, I think they will make interesting posts. They will provide additional context and explore some of the things the characters might have seen and experienced that have impacted their lives.

Buddy's Tattoo Shop is a collection of stories from our family tattoo business in memory of my father, artist Buddy Mott. I tattooed beside him for almost the last 30 years of his 59 year career in Newport, Rhode Island. I categorize my telling of these stories as an audio book on paper, and if I had to rate it I’d give it a PG13. Well, maybe PG 15…and a half. In his early days back from WWII this Army Veteran tattooed thousands of squids that came thru the Navy port, and shipped out all over the globe. Tattooed sailors on the move and the pride Buddy took in his artwork gave him the opportunity to become known worldwide. Newport in the late 1970’s was being transformed into a sailing/tourist spot. Our father/daughters team tattooed customers from all walks of life (with or without motorcycles) now wanting to wear some permanent art. I’m pretty sure only one was a nun. Included are also some of our tattoo tips, trade secrets for fellow artists and tattoo collectors plus some of the unusual though entertaining requests we got on a nightly basis.

In 2016 Robert Walason was a subject of the number one worldwide, podcast from Gimlet Media, Academy Award Nominated; Producers Marc Smerling and Zac Stuart-Pontier, titled “Crimetown.” After touring a multi-city live show for the Podcast, including New York City, Brooklyn, Boston, and Providence, he was approached to write his life story with co-author Joe Broadmeadow in 2018 and titled “UnMade; Honor Loyalty Redemption”.

He is a Wilson Center Global Fellow at the Kennan Institute for advanced Russian studies and an adjunct Fellow at the Pell Center for International Relations. He is author of the recently published memoirs; "Swimming the Volga" and "Afghanistan Kabul Kurier." He writes from his home in Newport, RI where he lives with his beloved wife Stephanie.
